Newton Strongly Supports More Renewable Electricity
Survey: 86% of residents willing to pay more for more 'green' electricity
Green Newton recently conducted a public, zip-code based, random Newton resident survey and found:
- 86% of respondents are willing to pay more for 'green' electricity
- 77% of respondents are willing to pay $8 to $15 more per month for 50-100% ‘green’ electricity.
- 42% are willing to opt UP to the 100% option

Hundreds sign the letter of support for 40% more renewables
Adding 40% more renewables in the NPC Standard Contract will cost a household with $100/month electric bill about $5/month while eliminating as much greenhouse gases as removing nearly 10,000 cars from the road.
The Letter of Support has been signed by 20 of 24 City Councilors, 3 State officials representing Newton, 13 Organizations, and 908 Newton Residents. Read the letter here.
