Hundreds sign the letter of support for 40% more renewables

Adding 40% more renewables in the NPC Standard Contract will cost a household with $100/month electric bill about $5/month while eliminating as much greenhouse gases as removing nearly 10,000 cars from the road.
The Letter of Support has been signed by 20 of 24 City Councilors, 3 State officials representing Newton, 13 Organizations, and 908 Newton Residents. Read the letter here.

Let's Green the Grid

Newton Power Choice (NPC), the city-led group electricity purchasing for residents and businesses of Newton, is coming this Fall (2018)
This new electricity contract will include more renewables (wind & solar) than you get from Eversource today.

Choices for Everyone

All Eversource basic customers will be automatically enrolled into the Standard Contract (or Default Contract) when the program goes live, but:
1) It is NOT mandatory to join this new program… anyone who wants to opt-out, and stay with Eversource, will be able to do so.
2) Within the NPC program, residents will have the option to Opt-Up to a 100% Renewables or Opt-Down to 0% additional renewables.

NPC Benefits

By adding more renewables to our electricity, Newton will:
- Reduce greenhouse gases emissions
- Protect our health from dirty fossil fuels
- Create local jobs
- Keep billions of dollars in State
